Happy New Year to all. This week's
Diva Challenge, the first of the year, is to use 2014 or New Year in a piece of Zentangle art. You can check out the challenge and follow the links to see other people's submissions and even submit one of your own. Here is my submission.

Wow, how did you the 2014, this is great. Looks like it is lying thick above your tile. Well done.
ReplyDeleteTraced the numbers on my tile after I had laid down the string. Tangled around them then filled with gold (metallic gelly roll) and shaded around each number to help make it 'pop' off the page...
DeleteI have a piece 'in progress' over on my facebook page if you are interested. You can even place a request for what tangle (Official Zentangle tangles) I should do next :)
Delete...and a touch of white gelly roll pen to create the 'highlights' on each number!
DeleteWow, what pen is that? (getting my shopping list together...lol). That is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteJust a regular (Sakura) Gold Metallic Gelly Roll from my local craft store. It's like painting with liquid gold :) Sounds like The Diva has a pen I would like to try too; the one she suggests might be better for fine lines...
DeleteWonderful!! Great tangles and the "2014" is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was fun to do. Adding a gold accent to my tiles has become something of a trademark with me but this was the first time I added lettering :)
DeleteLove how you used metallic to make your 2014 stand out. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThe metallic pen is awesome and as with regular tangles, the shading around it helps to lift it off the page too.
DeleteThe numbers really do stand out. Like the tangles that you used. Not sure that any of the gel pens have a fine line. Some times can get a fine line if use a light touch, but then it is hard to keep the ink flowing. At least for me.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Slicci metallics?
DeleteBeautiful work, the touch of gold adds such elegance!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful indeed!
ReplyDeleteLovely tile and I love the way that your numbers look raised!
