The Diva's Weekly Challenge #109: "Zentangle Quest"

Every week The Diva sets a challenge online for the Zentangle community to participate in. This week's challenge was based on a blog post by Maria Thomas, one of the two founders of Zentangle. The challenge involved parallel lines overlayed by bands. I had so much fun filling in the columns and bands, especially since I love to play with 3D effects, but was not sure what I wanted to do with the open spaces in between. Then I thought of my brown micron pen and remembered Maria's blog post about staining tiles with tea applied with a small paintbrush.I will definitely be working with all these ideas again!

  1. You have some neat effects going on in this tile, Sarah. It was fun taking some time to explore it and figure out several ways to perceive the illusion of depth. I have to say, it somehow reminds me of a circus, as seen from a trapeze artist's point of view. (!)

  2. Really gorgeous!!!! I like the 'tea' color in it. I muself tried the idea of Molly to use Turmeric, that went very well too.

  3. Love the way your "pillars" each have a different tangle, and the way you varied the angles of the placement of your patterns. Beautiful tile!
